During the European Researchers’ Night 2024, the UNIT BRAIN project’s research teams engaged with the public, policymakers, and the scientific community to raise awareness about the health and environmental risks associated with endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Through presentations and outreach materials, the partners highlighted how exposure to toxic substances such as bisphenol S and PFOS might interfere with human brain development, potentially leading to long-term neurological consequences.

The event served as a key platform to stress the importance of stricter regulations on EDCs and to demonstrate the value of innovative research models like brain organoids in studying neurotoxicity. The presence of policymakers was pivotal in fostering informed discussions on the adoption of safer materials and practices, with the goal of reducing environmental pollution and public health costs. Such a dissemination activityshowcased how scientific dissemination can bridge the gap between research and society, promoting greater awareness and encouraging sustainable actions for a healthier and more environmentally conscious future.
